ELIZABETH JOAN "BETTY" BERANEK

Elizabeth Joan (Betty) Beranek, age 78, of Winona, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016, at Lake Winona Manor, following a short stay.

Betty was born December 5, 1937, to Clement and Frances Cysewski.  She graduated from Cotter High School in 1955.  After High School she became a Phone Operator in Winona eventually becoming an Operator Supervisor.   She married William Joseph (Bill) Beranek October 14, 1961.  They were life-long Winona residents, where she and Bill raised three children:  Jerome, Jack, and Mary Jo.

While raising the children she re-entered the work force and eventually became a Line Supervisor for 22 years at the Schuler Candy Company, later called Brock and Brach Candy Companies, respectively.

Betty enjoyed her spare time staying at the family cottage at West Newton on Pool 5 of the Mississippi River.  She rarely missed a Green Bay Packer game on television, and spent many Sunday afternoons with Bill and good friends watching the Packers play while she sipped a martini.

Betty is survived by her children: Jerome of Rushford, MN; Jack of Kellogg, MN; and Mary Jo Adcock of Fountain City, WI.   She is also survived by her brother: Bob Cysewski of Seattle, WA; and sisters: Barbara Skeels of Winona and Mary Johnson, Twin Cities, MN.   Also surviving Betty are her four grandchildren: Jaclyn and Steve Adcock; and Jennifer and Nicholas Beranek.  She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; her parents; and her sister, Eleanor.

According to her wishes, a private family service and burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Winona.
