Dorothy Theis

Dorothy J. Theis, age 96, of Winona, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Benedictine – St. Anne in Winona.

Dorothy was born January 7, 1925, at Oak Ridge, Winona County, to Leo and Lillian (Honer) Walch.  She was united in marriage with Robert A. Theis on October 21, 1950, in Winona, and he preceded her in death on April 30, 2000.

She was employed for many years in the print shop of Watkins in Winona, and she was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Winona Court 191.

She will be remembered for her enjoyment of knitting, crocheting, doing cross-stitch, cooking, and baking.  Dorothy also enjoyed attending musicals, going on bus trips, and playing cards.

Dorothy’s family was very important to her, cherishing the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she was a dedicated care-giver to Bob for many years prior to his death.

Dorothy is lovingly survived by her son, Rick; grandchildren: Stacy (George) Joyer; Craig (Amanda) Theis; and Daniel Theis; great-grandchildren: Hazel, Adeline, and Ruth Joyer; and Cody and Bradley Theis; a special niece, Pat Wanek; as well as other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters: Eleanor Schieche and Louise Fratzke, and a brother, Herbert Walch.

Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona.  Visitation will also be held from 10:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona.  The Very Reverend Mark C. McNea will officiate.  Dorothy will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dorothy’s son and grandchildren.
