DOROTHY M. PODJASKI

Dorothy M. Podjaski, age 96, of Winona, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona.

She was born on December 14, 1919, in Pine Creek, Wisconsin, to Edward and Emma (Gottschalk) Jasnoch. She was united in marriage with Edmund J. Podjaski on August 19, 1948, and he preceded her in death on February 12, 2011.

Dorothy was employed for many years as a housekeeper at St. Teresa’s College in Winona.  She was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, where she was active and enjoyed being a part of the quilters.

She will be remembered for her love of baking, cooking, flower gardening, and taking bus trips with the Winona Friendship Center.  Dorothy cherished the time that she spent with her family – especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is lovingly survived by her children: Karen (Dave) Matzke, La Crosse, WI; Richard (Zoe Ann) Podjaski, Winona; John Podjaski, Winona; grandchildren: Adrienne Uebel, Rachel Henke, Leah Podjaski, and Michael Podjaski; great-grandchildren: Mason, Tessa, Aminah, Kaiden, Kylee, Andrue, and Makenna; sister: Joan Strong, Winona; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.  The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.

Dorothy will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in a private family ceremony.

Visitation will be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka on Thursday, August 18, 2016, from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dorothy’s great-grandchildren.

The family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.
