Doris A. Ambrose

Doris A. Ambrose, age 96, of The Villages, FL, and formerly of Winona, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, in Florida.

She was born on November 5, 1927, in Winona, to John and Julia (Bergaus) Stachowitz.  Doris was united in marriage with George Ambrose on September 16, 1946, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winona, and he preceded her in death on September 27, 1997.

Doris was employed as a nurse with Dr. Finklenberg, and was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona.

Doris is survived by her nieces and nephews: Deb (John) Ross, Scott (Diane) Richer, Bonny (Jerry) Pettegrew, Alan Stachowitz, Linda (Carlos) Plaza, Jerry (Stella) Stachowitz, Michael (Reva) Stachowitz, Roxann (Mike) Turner, and Dawn (Kurt) Biskey; as well as great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and nephews: Ron Quaman and David Stachowitz.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona.  The Very Reverend Mark C. McNea will officiate.   Doris will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: John Ross, Scott Richer, Tommy Ross, Mark Butler, Kurt Biskey, and Michael Turner.
