DONALD S. GROVER

Donald S. Grover, age 86, of Centerville, WI, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016, at the Mayo Health System Franciscan Hospital in La Crosse.

He was born on August 26, 1929, in Winona, and was the son of Albert and Frances (Pellowski) Grover.  He was a graduate of the Galesville High School, and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Don was united in marriage with Margaret Knepper on September 24, 1955, at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Trempealeau, WI, and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

He was employed for many years at Skipper Liner in Onalaska, and was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Trempealeau.

Don had a great love of the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, flower gardening, and his home in the valley.  He will be remembered for his love of woodworking, doing jigsaw puzzles, and watching Monday night wrestling on TV.  Don was devoted to his family, and he would do anything for them.  Those who knew and loved him will miss his teasing, and his great sense of humor and fun.

Don is lovingly survived by his wife, Margaret, Centerville; daughter: Donna (Doug) Sonsalla, Arcadia, WI; sons: Ken (Jill) Grover, Trempealeau, WI; Dennis Grover, Palm Coast, FL; grandchildren: Michelle (Paul) Hoch; Aaron Sonsalla; and Jacob Sonsalla; great-grandchildren: Lucas and Anna Hoch; sister-in-law: Winnie Grover; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law: Eugene (Shirley) Grover; brother: Les Grover; and sister and brother-in-law: Faye and Arthur Gibson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Trempealeau, WI.  The Reverend Antony Joseph will officiate.

Don will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Trempealeau, with military honors.

Visitation will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Trempealeau on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, from 10 AM until the time of the Mass.

Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Sonsalla, Jacob Sonsalla, and Paul Hoch.
