DONALD L. BROWN

Donald L. Brown, age 84, of Winona, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Lake Winona Manor.

He was born on November 6, 1931, in Winona, to George and Gladys (Webber) Brown.  He was united in marriage with Jacqueline Steadman on August 27, 1955, in Winona, and she preceded him in death 14 years ago to the day on November 17, 2001.

Don honorably served his country with the United States Navy during the Korean War.  He was employed with the City of Winona Water Department as a superintendent until his retirement.  Don was a member of the American Legion, the Elks, and the Eagles Club.

Don will be remembered for his generous and giving nature and his great sense of humor.  He enjoyed painting, trips to the casino, sight-seeing, and spending time with his friends at Hy-Vee.  He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa whose family was very important to him.  He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, and he especially missed his beloved wife, Jackie.

Don is lovingly survived by his children: James (Kim) Brown, Montgomery, MN; Scott (Pam) Brown, Lewiston, MN; and Patrick (Cindy) Brown; Winona; grandchildren: Tanya (Justin) Johnson, Winona; Gregory (Nicole) Brown, Montgomery, MN; Nikki (Ben) Kemp, Winona; Paul (Kyann) Brown, Winona; and Ryan Brown, Winona; great-grandchildren: Sari, Cooper, Teegan, Knox, and Oliver; brothers: Robert (Betty) Brown, Buffalo City, WI; George Brown, Indianapolis, IN; Thomas (Mary) Brown, Buffalo City, WI; Richard Brown, Buffalo City, WI; John (Joan) Brown, Minnesota City, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers: James and Roger Brown; and sisters-in-law: Rosetta and Carol Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 20, 2015, at Central Lutheran Church in Winona.  The Reverend Michelle Rem will officiate.

Don will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in a private family ceremony.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Thursday, November 19, 2015, from 5 PM until 7 PM, and also at Central Lutheran Church on Friday, November 20, 2015, from 9 AM until the time of the service.

Don’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
