DODIE A. VOTRUBA

Dodie A. Votruba, 68, of Winona, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Sauer Healthcare.

Dodie was born on June 1, 1947, in Albert Lea, MN, to Elwood and Jean (Kemp) Loberg.  After graduating from Austin High School, she lived in Rochester, MN, for a short while before moving to Winona.  She then met and married Roy Votruba on March 25, 1972.  She worked for a short time at the Winona Knitting Mills, before leaving in order to raise her family.

She also took on the task to babysit and take care of numerous neighborhood and friend’s children, which filled our home with lots of love and activity.  Dodie resumed back to work at the Winona Knitting Mills in the mid-80’s, where she worked until 2000.  She returned back to work at what was then Farley and Sather’s Candy in 2001, until her retirement in 2011.

After retirement, Dodie focused on her family.  Holidays were special to her; her home was always a warm and inviting place for people to gather.  She spent most of her retirement with her beloved word searches and crossword puzzles.  She loved sewing projects such as the numerous quilts she made for people.  Dodie had a strong passion for reading; she loved books.  She also loved all the trips she took throughout the U.S. with her family.  Most of all she cherished the special times she spent caring for her grandchildren, whom she loved ever so much.

Dodie is lovingly survived by her children, Stephen (Renea) Votruba, Leanne (Pat) Pozanc, Donnie (Sarah Bartash) Votruba, Preston (Jayme) Votruba and Beth Ann (Nathan) Dietsche; step-children, Joe (Linda) Votruba, Pam Votruba and Dan Votruba; grandchildren, Kaza, Trey and Aiden Pozanc, Zoey Votruba and Clarissa Dietsche; great-granddaughter, Tianah Clark; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy; her parents; and a baby sister, Margaret Loberg.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.  Deacon Justin Green will officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home, on Saturday, from 10 AM until the time of the service.

Dodie will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will Roy Loberg, John Loberg, Brent Crump, Joe Votruba, Pat Pozanc and Trey Pozanc.
