Dawn M. Thompson

Dawn Marie (Fenske) Thompson, beloved wife, mother, daughter, and sister, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, surrounded by those she loved. 

Born to Marvin and Carol Fenske on February 13, 1959, Dawn’s adventurous spirit was evident from a young age. Rarely found at home, she was always chasing the next adventure. She loved spending time on the Mississippi River, whether skiing across its waters or soaking up the sun on its shores. A lover of music and movement, Dawn could often be found on the dance floor or cheering on her teammates while playing softball. She cherished the freedom of cruising through town in her convertible with the radio turned up loud, embodying a zest for life that never faded.

Later in life, Dawn found joy in collecting unique treasures, especially salt and pepper shakers and figurines. Her love for animals, particularly her Pomeranians and Chihuahuas, brought her great comfort and happiness. The love of her life was her son, Jeffrey. Dawn’s pride in being a mother was unmatched, and she never missed an opportunity to share her admiration for him with anyone who would listen.

Dawn is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey Thompson Sr.; her cherished son, Jeffrey Jr. (Katelynn); her devoted mother, Carol; and her brother, Derrick. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Sandy Fenske; her nieces, Mara Fenske, Shauna Fenske, and Alaisha Rank; and her nephews, Preston (Sarah) Fenske, Michael Fenske, and Mitchell (Erin) Fenske. 

 She is preceded in death by her father, Marvin; her brother, Karl; and her sister, Christy.

Dawn’s radiant spirit, her love for her family, and her unrelenting pursuit of joy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 4 PM until 7 PM, where a time of remembrance will be held at 6 PM.
