After a long, courageous, hard-fought battle with cancer, Dawn Goodwill passed away at the age of 62 years old at Mayo Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN surrounded by her family on October 25, 2024. In her passing, Dawn gave the gift of sight with a donation to the Lions Eye Bank through the University of Minnesota.
A lifetime resident of Winona, Dawn graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1980. Her friends and the community knew her from her work at Menards, Merchants Bank, Enlighted Equipment, Midtown Bakery, her own day care, and Hal Leonard. For a few years, Dawn also cared for her mother Carol prior to her mother’s passing.
Dawn’s greatest joy was her granddaughters, who were the light of her life. She enjoyed travel, (especially Florida and Cancun), bowling, reading and socializing with friends and family. She also enjoyed having adventures with her best friend and cousin, Betty Gulden. We want to extend special thanks and gratitude to Betty for helping with Dawn’s care during this challenging time.
A celebration of life will be held this Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 4540 Service Drive, Winona, MN 55987. The celebration will include a light luncheon and a pastor from Central Lutheran Church who will preside over a service in remembrance at 2:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear purple, Dawn’s favorite color.
