DAVID C. HAMMANN
David C. Hammann, age 80, of Winona, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017, at the Red Wing Care Center in Red Wing, MN.
David was born on February 5, 1937, in Winona, to Elmer and Minnie (Welch) Hammann. He graduated from Winona Senior High School, and attended Winona State University for three years. He went on to enlist with the United State Navy, where he was an aerographer, until being honorably discharged. David was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
After his military service, David returned to Winona where he lovingly cared for his parents as they aged. He was a long-time employee with the dietary department of Community Memorial Hospital, until his retirement.
David will be remembered for his love of reading, gardening, bird watching, and he was an avid Packers fan. He was a very clever man, who cared deeply about his family and friends.
David is survived by his sister, Judith Pellowski, Madison, WI; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 1 PM until 2 PM. The American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will provide military honors following the visitation.
David will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
