Charles E. Spencer, 91, of Winona, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at his home.
He was born on August 14, 1933, in Necedah, Wisconsin to Leonard and Lorene (Heiniman) Spencer. In 1951, Charles graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, and attended Northwest State College in Missouri.
Charles honorably served his country with the United States Air Force from 1951-1959 and was stationed in Japan and Korea. After his career in the Air Force, he tended bar at supper clubs in Wisconsin, Rapids, and eventually owned two taverns of his own.
He was employed in maintenance with the Winona Country Club prior to his retirement.
Charles enjoyed outdoor activities including boating, fishing, hunting, as well as, bowling and playing cards.
Charles is survived by Frances Spencer, Winona; two daughters: Laura (David) Allcorn, Conroe, TX; Sandra (Patrick) Lyons, Clovis, NM; two sons: Todd (Stephanie) Spencer, Clovis, NM; Scott Spencer, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Allen Spencer, sister: Lois Gazeley, and infant siblings: Dale and Marian.
Honoring his wishes, funeral services will be held privately for his family. Charles will be laid to rest at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN.
