Charles (Chuck) Francis Mettille , 89, passed away on Thursday,  April 7, 2016.

Chuck was born March 17, 1927 in Winona, Minnesota to Frank and Anna (Moravec) Mettille.   He was a graduate of Cotter High School and served in the United States Army after which he obtained a business degree from Winona State University.  He was a life- long member of Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and served the Winona community through his many volunteer commitments. He had a special place in his heart for Winona Volunteer Services.   He was a warm, kindhearted man and a devoted husband and father.

He met his future wife, Anita Stang while attending WSU and they were married on June 21, 1952.

Chuck is survived by his children Kathryn Wnuk Todd, Laura (Thomas) Dreas, Linda (Michael) Spiten,  Frank Mettille,  Julie (Glen) Steberg,  the late Michael (Pamela) Mettille,  Nancy (Karl Hedin) Mettille, Connie (Thomas Sawyer) Mettille, grandchildren Michael Wnuk, Tracy (Brian Knopick), David Dreas, John  Spiten, Sarah Mettille, Michael Mettille,  Elizabeth (Josh) Goldapp, Michael Scott Mettille, Mary Anita Mettille, Thomas Mettille, Calvin Steberg,  Dylan Steberg, Luke Steberg, Wade Steberg, Grace Hedin,  Charlie Hedin, Jessica (Michael) Dietel, Tommy Sawyer and great-grandchildren Justin and Ethan Wnuk,  McKenna and MaKayla Knopick and Max and Carson Dietel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita and son, Michael and his brother John.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home with a private prayer service and burial at 12:30 pm.

Memorials may be sent to the Winona State University Mettille Family Scholarship.
