Catherine (Katie) Julia Scarborough, age 93, of Trempealeau, WI, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in Holmen, WI.
Katie was born on July 30, 1931, in Winona, MN. She was the 5th daughter of John Jacob and Helen Marie Prodzinski. Katie spent her youth on her parents’ farm just outside Trempealeau, WI. She graduated from Healy Memorial High School in Trempealeau in May 1949. Afterwards she moved to Long Beach, CA, where she met her future husband, Greg Scarborough. They married in August of 1955 and ended up settling in Winona, MN, where they raised their two children. After retirement Katie returned to her hometown of Trempealeau, where she enjoyed playing cards, being a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and an occasional trip to the casino.
Katie is survived by her children: Pam (Ron) Glubka, St. Paul Park, MN; and Greg (Leslie) Scarborough, Winona, MN; her grandchildren: Jessica (Jim) Kaczrowski, Woodbury, MN; Krystal Levang, Blaine, MN; Michael (Carissa) Scarborough, Orange, CA; Jenna Scarborough, Newport Beach, CA; and five great-grandchildren: Tyler, Evan and Amelia (Woodbury); Kaylee (Blaine); and Dakota (Orange, CA).
Besides her parents, Katie was preceded in death by her husband Greg, her four sisters: Irene, Ruth, Dee and Bernice; and great-grandchildren Isabella and Landon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Trempealeau, WI. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Trempealeau. There will not be any visitation held prior to the Mass. Following the burial, Katie’s family will greet relatives and friends in the St. Bartholomew Church Hall.
The family sends their deepest thanks and gratitude to the staff at Hearten House III memory care facility in Holmen, WI, for their care and compassion they gave to Katie.
