CARROLL B. JORDE
Carroll B. Jorde, age 83, of Winona, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016, at Lake Winona Manor.
He was born on October 6, 1932, in Black Hammer, Houston County, Minnesota, to Tilman and Sabel (Mathias) Jorde. Carroll graduated from Rushford High School, and went on to serve his country with the National Guard.
Carroll will be remembered for being a good man, a good husband, and a good father and grandfather. He was devoted to his family, and was a fiercely loyal man. He was mechanically gifted, could fix nearly anything, and he had the ability to create works of art from other people’s garbage. He meticulously restored many old tractors and antique furniture pieces.
As an avid reader, he especially enjoyed reading the Bible and doing daily devotions. He also looked forward to spending time in his workshop, and watching anything on the History Channel. He was always quick to greet you with his beautiful smile. To his family and friends, he leaves these last thoughts – “I love you. Please take care of each other.”
Carroll is lovingly survived by his wife, Linda, Winona; children: Cindy (Eric) Nelson, Stoughton, WI; Doug (Meta) Jorde, Crosswell, MI; Dwayne (Linda) Jorde, Reedsburg, WI, and Christi Jorde (Jason Gabel), Rochester, MN; grandchildren: Cameron, Tessa, and Colin Nelson; Matthew, Daniel, Andrew, Michael, Benjamin, and Annelise Jorde; David and Michael Sutor; Alicia, Nicholas, and Samantha Patrick; Maxwell Jorde and Rhett Gabel; great-grandchildren: Olive, Charlie, Vivian, Conner, Marshall, Quinn, and Easton; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers: Stanley and Merlin Jorde.
Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Saturday, February 20, 2016, from 1 PM until the time of a funeral service at 3 PM. Carroll’s friends, Doyle Pleggenkuhle and Alger Julson will officiate.
Carroll will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Reedsburg, WI, at a later date.
One of Carroll’s favorite passages of Scripture was II Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Memorials may be directed to Memory Care at Lake Winona Manor.
