Carrol attended St. Peter’s Grade School and graduated from Mahtomedi High School.
He attended the Merchant Marine Engine School at Sheepheads Bay, NY, and honorably served his country with the United States Merchant Marines from May 1943 to June 1946 on oil tankers in the North Atlantic, Caribbean, Pacific, and Asiatic Theaters.

He was employed with the American Motor Company in Milwaukee, where their only son, Michael, was born in 1960. The family moved back to Winona in 1967, where Carrol was employed for many years with Warner and Swasey/Badger Equipment, until his retirement. Following retirement, Carrol continued to work for the Winona Daily News and with J and K Office Products.
Carrol was a member of St. John Nepomucene Church, and he was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 639 of Winona.
He will be remembered as an avid reader, and for his many years as a dedicated volunteer at Benedictine – St. Anne in Winona.
Carrol is lovingly survived by his son, Michael (Heather) Terry; grandchildren: Haley (Ryan) Halverson, Jaida (Casey Ritzel) Terry, and Sadie Terry; great-granddaughter, Maddison; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
