Bernard Thicke

Bernard J. “Bud” Thicke, age 84, of Goodview, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the Gundersen Health System Hospital in La Crosse.

Bud was born on June 13, 1935, in La Crosse, to Ben and Florence (Platteter) Thicke.  He was united in marriage with Teresa Pozanc on September 7, 1957, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona.

He was employed for over forty years as an over-the-road trucker with Bay State Milling and also for RTP.  He was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, and was a former member of the Minnesota City Volunteer Fire Department.

Bud will be remembered for his love of gardening, fishing, hunting, and camping.  His great smile and happy attitude will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Bud is lovingly survived by his wife, Teresa; sons: Paul (Nancy) Thicke, and Steve (Lori) Thicke; grandchildren: Beth (Gary) Hubbard, Brianne Thicke, Alec Thicke, Wil Thicke, and Katelyn Thicke; great-grandchildren: Zachary and Charlotte Hubbard; siblings: Marlene Viestenz, Mary York, David Thicke, and Diane Gergen; a sister-in-law: Bernadette Thicke; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Glen Thicke.

Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at noon on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.  The Very Reverend Patrick Arens will officiate.  Bud will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be:  Alec Thicke, Wil Thicke, Cary Whetstone, Troy Whetstone, Scott Brandes, and Marcus Borck.  The honorary pallbearers will be Mike Curran and Butch Dotzler.

Memorials may be directed to the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.
