Arnold R. Schindler, age 74, of Winona, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Lake Winona Manor.
Arnie was born on July 13, 1944, in Galesville, WI, to Ralph and Ruth (Prodzinski) Schindler. He married Penny Anderson, and together they had two sons, Lee and Larry, and they later divorced. Arnie married Eloyce (Swenson) Hock on January 17, 1981, in Winona, and gained her sons, Jeff and Larry.
He was employed as a carpenter for many years with Winona Construction Company. Arnie will be remembered for his love of camping as well as cutting and burning wood for his fireplace . He and Eloyce enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and some of his favorite destinations included Branson and the western states, especially Wyoming and Montana. He was hoping for a return visit to Disney World and the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina.
Arnie is lovingly survived by his wife, Eloyce; children: Lee (Julie) Schindler, Larry (Pam) Schindler, Jeff (Kim) Hock, and Larry (Tammy) Hock; grandchildren: Eric and Emma Schindler; Jessica (Cutter) Henderson; and Taylor Hock; great-grandchildren: Kinze and Cora; brother: Roger (Dawn) Schindler; niece and nephews: Sheri, Keith, and Christopher Schindler; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved dog, Newton.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Central Lutheran Church in Winona. The Reverend William Flesch and the Reverend Michael Short will officiate. Arnie will be laid to rest in a family ceremony to be held in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of choice.
