ARLENE B. STENDER

Arlene B. Stender, age 95, of Winona, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare.

She was born on January 27, 1922, in Hillsdale Township, Winona County, to John and Clara (Ellinghuysen) Rupprecht.  On March 3, 1946, Arlene was united in marriage with Harold Stender at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona, and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2001.

Arlene was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, its afternoon Bible study, and of the Ladies Aid where she served as the treasurer.

What a great lady Arlene was – she will be missed more than she knows.  She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved to spend time with them whenever she could.  Family reunions were always her favorite.

Arlene is lovingly survived by her children: Wayne (Sherry) Stender, Lake City, MN; Linda (Steven) Wall, Eden Prairie, MN; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Betty Rupprecht; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Harold, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law: Susan Stender; brothers: Edgar, Donald, and Melvin Rupprecht; a sister: Florence Rother; brother-in-law: Herbert Rother; and sisters-in-law: LaVern, Evelyn, and Carol Rupprecht.

Visitation will be held at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 766 West Wabasha Street, on Friday, July 21, 2017, from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM.  The Reverend Matthew Schoell and the Reverend Karl Gurgel will officiate.

Arlene will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Arlene’s grandchildren.
