Vera Mueller

Vera Luella (Claussen) Mueller, age 104, of Winona, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at Sauer Health Care.

She was born on March 23, 1916, in Plainview, MN, to Albert and Leona (Labisky) Claussen. Vera was baptized on April 30, 1916, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Plainview, MN, and was confirmed on April 13, 1930, also at Immanuel, by the Rev. Theodore Schoewe.

Vera graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1935, and following graduation she worked in the office of the J.R. Watkins Company.  She was united in marriage with Gerhard W. “Von” Mueller on June 30, 1940, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona by the Rev. A. L. Mennicke.

She was a long-time, faithful member of St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona where she was active as a former choir member.  She was a Sunday School teacher and she served as its treasurer for 28 years.  She was a member of the Ladies Aid, serving as its President for many years, participated in bible study, and was active with LWMS and OWLS.  Vera was also a member of the Sauer Health Care Auxiliary where she volunteered for over 30 years and served as the past Auxiliary President.

Vera is lovingly survived by her children: Jeanne (Rev. Philip) Geiger, Appleton, WI; James (Judy Farabee) Mueller, Cloverdale, VA; and Robert Mueller, Winona; grandchildren: Paul Geiger, Rachel (Paul) Wunderlich, Karen (Quentin) Bauer, Kevin (Tami) Mueller, John (Jenny) Mueller, and Amy Mueller; great-granddaughters: Claudia and Sophia Wunderlich; Braelynn and Kenleigh Mueller; Ashlyn and Paisley Bauer; and Ella Mueller; great-grandsons: Gavin and Ethan Wunderlich; Tristen Mueller; and Grayson Bauer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving, caring, and wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Von; parents; daughter-in-law: Sharon Mueller; brothers: Alvin and Chester Claussen; and a sister: Ruth Schwark.

Due to current health concerns, a family service will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.  The Rev. Matthew Schoell will officiate.  Vera will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Vera's grandchildren.
